Welcome to

The QuintEssential Conference: Collaborations, Partnerships and Solutions!

Our theme, as expressed throughout these three days of inspired programming and events, will stimulate the essential librarian in all of us, open our thoughts to the ideas voiced by renowned presenters, offering us a forum for intellectual collaboration, enterprising partnerships, and the promise that solutions are possible.

On behalf of the five chapters, the Steering Committee, member volunteers, the vendors and the Sheraton Society Hill, we welcome you to our Conference and to Philadelphia.

Our conference encompasses relevant topics under the "subject headings" of Partnerships, E-Content, New Roles, and Communications. Our distinguished keynote speaker, Robert S. Martin, Ph.D., Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Washington, DC, will talk to us about governmental collaborations and partnerships. The first round of concurrent sessions commences on E-Content with Susannah Fox, Director of Research, Pew Internet & American Life Project, speaking on "Internet Health is Everywhere: A Portrait of America's E-Patients" and New Roles with Kathleen de la Pena McCook, University of South Florida and author of A Place at the Table: Participating in Community Building speaking on Sustaining Partnerships: Beyond Love at First Sight and Communication with Joan Allatta, The Wharton School; John Barrett, ITI Associates; Larry R. Glass, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and Marianne B. Gruber, Dupont Company speaking on Communities of Practice.

Enhance your knowledge or update your skills by attending one or more of the CE classes on Sunday and Tuesday but do not miss the opening reception in the Hall of Exhibits and meet the vendors who have lots of new products to show you. They will provide the Monday morning continental breakfast with the exhibits.

There is more! Additionally there are over 20 more thematic sessions planned for Monday and Tuesday finishing with a luncheon co-presentation featuring SLA president Cynthia Hill, and MLA president Patricia Thibodeau.

Come to the sumptuous banquet Monday evening to enjoy the good company of your colleagues, good food, and the wit of Dr. John Morreall who will explore the benefits of humor in the workplace.

Exchange experiences and ideas with your colleagues at the Contributed Poster Session on Monday and participate in one of the Roundtable discussions and business meetings on Tuesday. Check the program for more details and topics.

We certainly hope that while you are in Philadelphia, where our nation's founders collaborated and partnered at Independence Hall, you will make some time to explore this multi-faceted city.

QuintEssentially and With All Good Wishes,
Your Conference Co-Chairs
